The Open Screen Project Fund is a US$10 million market development fund offering grants to developers to help accelerate the creation of applications, content, and services that leverage the Adobe® Flash® Platform and run across mobile, desktop, and consumer electronics devices.
The global initiative was created to fuel innovation by directly commissioning developers to create innovative applications and by providing education, support, and distribution guidance. Adobe and Nokia are the first contributors to the Open Screen Project Fund.
The Open Screen Project Fund is seeking submissions that explore the following focus areas: entertainment, business, social networking, productivity, gaming, travel, multimedia, health, finance, weather, sports, news, education, and more. Submissions to the fund should take advantage of the Adobe Flash Platform’s support for experiences across multiple devices and screen sizes. A submission should include at minimum a Flash technology–based application that takes advantage of the mobile browser or runs as a standalone application packaged as a web app for target Nokia devices using Nokia WRT. Submissions will be rewarded more funding if they develop a solution that is multiscreen and, in addition to mobile, targets the desktop, connected TVs, or other emerging form factors such as notebooks, smartbooks, and tablets. These multiscreen experiences can run in or out of the browser as long as they take screen sizes and native device features into consideration..
